There is a lack of knowledge in the medical profession on best practices for MOUD/MAT and the effectiveness of MAT in treating opiate use disorders. There is also a need for better access to MAT services in southern Illinois. Case presentations of patients being treated for an opiate use disorder through MAT are not well known/demonstrated. Therefore, there is a lack of resources/examples for providers to examine for best practices for MOUD/MAT.
Each case presentation will provide support and technical assistance for MAT providers to increase competency and comfort level in working in addiction medicine, specifically with opioid use disorder.
